What to do about yellow and black striped bugs in my mint garden.

I have black and yellow striped bugs attacking my mint garden. I don't want to use anything that will affect the flavor of my mint tea to kill them. Any suggestions?

Hard shelled beetles
by: Larry

Hard shelled beetles like these are very vulnerable to soap and chitin.

So I would use soap as an ingredient in whatever repellent recipe you choose and as for chitin, worm tea (made from worm castings) added to your repellent recipe as a foliar spray is very effective.

Worm tea contains an ingredient that will attack the chitin in some hard shelled insects dissolving the shell.

Cucumber Beetles?
by: Larry

This sounds like cucumber beetles which are voracious pests. Choose an organic repellent recipe and spray the mint each day until the bugs leave.

Assuming the mint is outdoors, rainfall will wash the plants. You should also wash them when picked just to be safe.
